The heart of the ADP1761-ADJ-EVALZ is the ADP1761 adjustable linear voltage regulator. It is a synchronous device that offers both ± 2% line and load regulation, and extremely low dropout voltage. The ADP1761 features an adjustable output voltage range of 0.9V to 5.5V, and is capable of delivering up to 8A of output current at a maximum ambient temperature of +125°C. The ADP1761 also has built-in overtemperature and short circuit protection limiting the risk of unintentional damage. The board also features additional safety features such as an overtemperature alarm, a current setting circuit and a no-load detect circuit.
The ADP1761-ADJ-EVALZ provides the ability to simulate the performance of the ADP1761 linear voltage regulator. The board uses the ADP1762, a two-phase, adjustable closed loop power preregulator as its voltage source. The voltage is boosted to introduce an adjustable output voltage between 0.8V and 5.5V. This output voltage is then regulated further through the ADP1761 linear voltage regulator. To assist the user in development, the ADP1761-ADJ-EVALZ also comes equipped with an Evaluation Tool documentation, which includes various steps to configure and adjust the voltage regulator.
