Field programmable gate array (FPGA) technology has been evolving rapidly over the past two decades. The AGLP030V2-VQG128 is a 31KLE (31,000 logic element) device with 256 pins in a 300-pin QFP package. It has the same basic form factor as many other 300-pin FPGAs, however the VQG128 has an enhanced feature set and ports compared to its predecessors. The AGLP030V2-VQG128 has seven dedicated ports, one shared port, one processor port and multiple pins available for I/O signals. The dedicated ports are capable of operating up to 133Mbits/s giving the VQG128 a total data rate of 850Mbits/s. It supports the variety of memory technologies including DDR, SDR and ROM, and can communicate with other FPGAs, microcontrollers, ADCs and DACs.

In addition to its high-speed communication capabilities, the AGLP030V2-VQG128 also provides plenty of resources for development. It utilizes the Quartus II software for design and debugging, an SOPC Builder for system prototyping and embedded software design, and DMA controllers for data transfer. For testing, the Altera On-Chip Debugging feature offers a way to access the logic elements of the FPGA without the need for an external debugger or emulator. Additionally, the System Console, a graphical user interface development tool created by Altera, allows users to break-point, step, and single-stepping program execution.

The AGLP030V2-VQG128 is ideal for embedded applications due to its low power consumption and small size.
