Working Principle

Aluminum electrolytic capacitors have two anode plates, one of which is made of aluminum foil and the other of an electrolyte-soaked paper. The two plates are connected by a conductor strip and the combination is rolled into a cylinder. Inside the cylinder, the electrolyte provides ionic conduction between the anode and the cathode. When an external voltage is applied, a current is generated between the anode and the cathode plates, generating electrostatic attraction between them, thus forming an electric field in the capacitor.
