PTC resettable fuses are becoming an increasingly popular backup system for Critical Infrastructure. An AHRF450-2 is a polymeric Positive Temperature Coefficient fuse that has a two-stage resetting circuit and is available in two different ratings. It offers up to 200A current capacity and is suitable for AC and DC applications. The fuse comes with a temperature rating of -40 to +125°C. It is Class 2 rated for overcurrent protection and UL 94V-0 compliance.

AHRF450-2 fuse is designed to provide overcurrent protection and resetting circuit breakers in the following applications: DC/AC, low voltage, telecommunications, consumer electronics and other industrial applications. The temperature range of -40 to +125°C makes it suitable for use in harsh environments. Working principle: The AHRF450-2 is a dual stage polymeric PTC fuse. It combines the overcurrent protection capability of two stages, a Primary stage and a Secondary stage. The primary stage is typically used to protect against overloads while the secondary stage works to protect against short circuit.

The primary stage behaves as a conventional PTC fuse in which the PTC element heats up and melts when the current exceeds its rated value. The melting of the PTC element effectively cuts off the power supply in the primary stage.

When the current in the secondary stage exceeds its rated value, the PTC element heats up and causes a thermally triggered device to open. This cuts off the power supply in the secondary stage as well.

The thermally triggered device can be reset using an external reset switch, allowing the user to reset the fuse and restore the power supply. The reset switch is typically integrated with the fuse.

The AHRF450-2 also features reliable performance with a wide range of operating temperatures. It is UL certified, and provides superior overcurrent protection with a 200A current capacity. Additionally, the fuse comes with a six-year warranty.
