Fixed inductors are components of electrical circuits, generally constructed with a coil of wire that is wound around a cylindrical core. The AISC-1206-22NJ-T is a particular type of fixed inductor. It is made of ferric-oxynitride with a manganese-zinc layered zinc-nickel coated finish.

The working principle of the AISC-1206-22NJ-T fixed inductor is based on the concept of induction. This is the transfer of electrical energy caused by changing magnetic fields, in which a current carrying coil can induce a voltage in another coil when a rapid changing current flows in it. In a fixed inductor, a wire coil is wrapped around a non-magnetic body, such as a ferric-oxynitride core.

When a current flows through the coil, it produces a magnetic field which increases in strength, inducing an opposing voltage in the coil. This voltage is equal to the product of the coil’s inductance value and the rate of change of the current. This opposes the source voltage, limiting the magnitude of the change in current thereby limiting the power dissipated in the coil. In energy storage applications, the current carrying coil can store up energy and then slowly transfer that energy as the coil winds down.
