AK8180A is a powerful multi-functional control system for industrial automation applications. It consists of a main control unit, a series of specialized hardware modules, and a variety of communication interfaces. AK8180A supports digital input/output, analog signal inputs/output, relay output, pulse input/output, and fieldbus communication interface. It has comprehensive functions of data acquisition, processing and controlling. It can be used as a single station controller as well as a distributed control system.

The main control unit of AK8180A is equipped with a powerful 32-bit ARM processor. It carries a 1MB flash memory and a 2MB DRAM memory that provides enough storage for applications development. It is also integrated with an 8-channel RS485 communication interface and a USB port for programming and communication with external devices. The main control unit is further expandable with additional hardware modules such as digital input/output, analog input/output, relay output, pulse input/output, and communication interface modules.

The customizable digital input/output module can be connected directly to the main control unit of the AK8180A. It provides 8 high/low isolated digital input channels to interface with digital devices such as switches, limit switches, and proximity sensors. It also provides 8 transistor-based open collector outputs to energize a relay, control a DC motor, or actuate an electrical solenoid. The six channels of analog input module hosts four single-ended inputs for connecting analog devices such as pressure, temperature, and flow sensors. It also has two differential inputs for connecting high precision load cell, strain gauge, and force transducer.

The built-in relay module can be used to interact and control electromechanical devices such as motors, pumps, and valves of any type. It has 8 isolated relay outputs with NO/NC contacts for each channel rated for 10A/250VAC or 10A/30VDC. The 8 digital pulse outputs can be used to control any type of stepping motors for the purpose of position/speed control, or for controlling multiple shafts of a linear actuator. Finally, the communication port on the main control unit allows connection to other AK8180A networked units, or to other fieldbus protocol network.
