The ALD2332PAL is a differential comparator in a 14-pin plastic dual in-line package (DIP). This device is widely used in a wide range of applications and comes with a variety of functions, such as low-power dissipation, high speed response and low offset voltage. It also has a 7kHz typical slew rate and 80mV typical offset voltage.

The working principle of the ALD2332PAL is quite simple. The inputs of the device are connected to two voltage sources. The actual comparison of the inputs is done by an on-chip differential amplifier. The amplifier has a gain of approximately 5000, so it amplifies the tiny voltage difference between the two inputs. The output of the differential amplifier is then compared to the reference voltage. However, if the input signals are different, the output of the differential amplifier will vary, and the output of the comparator will change.

The output of the ALD2332PAL can be inverted or non-inverted. The output is also open-drain (completely open) when it is high. This gives it the ability to be used in applications where an open-drain output is required, such as logic level conversion. The output can drive TTL and CMOS logic levels directly or interface with other logic families through pullup resistors.
