The ALS80C163NW250 is a high-performance, surface-mount aluminum electrolytic capacitor, designed to provide long life and reliable operation in demanding applications.

The ALS80C163NW250 aluminum electrolytic capacitor has a variety of applications. It is suitable for use as a filtering element in a variety of power supplies, as well as in the filtering of sensitive signals. It is also used as a bypass element, storing energy for high-speed switching applications. In addition, it is used to bypass noise generated by interference sources, such as switching regulators, power supplies, and amplifiers.

The aluminum electrolytic capacitor’s basic working principle is simple. The basic dielectric material, called an electrolyte, is typically nitric acid, with a gaseous iron coating on its surface. When the capacitor’s terminals are connected to a voltage source, the electric current flowing through the electrolyte causes the iron coating to become polarized and form an electrical bridge between the terminal and the electrolyte. This permits the capacitor to build up a charge.

The aluminum electrolytic capacitor is composed of two aluminum plates that are separated by an electrolyte. The electrolyte can be either a liquid or a solid (polymer). The two aluminum plates are each coated with a thin coating of aluminum oxide. This oxide layer acts as an insulator, separating the two plates and preventing them from short-circuiting. The oxide layer is extremely thin and therefore allows electrons to pass from one plate to the other.

When a voltage is applied to the terminals of the ALS80C163NW250, an electrical current flows through the electrolyte.
