Application field

The AMP04ES has a broad range of applications including precision analog signal conditioning, data acquisition systems and signal processing. The amplifier can be used for instrumentation and industrial control applications where precision signal conditioning with low offset and high common-mode rejection is required. The amplifier provides low power consumption, excellent signal-to-noise figures, extremely low distortion and fast settling times, making it ideal for high-resolution, high-speed signal processing applications.

The AMP04ES is particularly suited for applications where power supply noise is a concern. The amplifier features 0.1 dB DC-to-AC Gain Flatness and 54 dB Common-Mode Rejection Ratio over the entire temperature range. The amplifier also features extremely low power consumption, making it ideal for portable applications.

Working principle

The AMP04ES consists of three main components: an input stage, an output stage, and a controller circuit. The input stage consists of two complementary high-gain, high-impedance JFETs to provide high input impedance and fast settling times. The output stage consists of two complementary high-power, low-impedance bipolar transistors that provide high gain, fast settling times and low power consumption.

The controller circuit consists of two operational amplifiers, one with a very low input-offset voltage and the other with a very low input-bias current. This combination results in extremely low total harmonic distortion and low power consumption. The operational amplifiers also provide high common-mode rejection, which is necessary for precision signal conditioning applications.

The AMP04ES is capable of operating from a single power supply of any voltage from 3.0V to 7.0V. The amplifier is also capable of operating from dual power supplies with a quiescent current of 5µA. The amplifier is available in an 8-pin DIP package and can be used for a wide range of signal conditioning applications.
