AN80T05LF Application Field and Working Principle
AN80T05LF is an integrated circuit switch that serves as a special linear regulator in advance power modules (PMIC) for voltage regulation for switching applications. It includes highly efficient push-pull integrated switches and a control circuit, which is capable of providing up to 10A continuous output current with low ground current. The push-pull circuit is designed to reduce switching losses and to improve efficiency, while the control circuit features over-voltage, under-voltage and current limit protection to ensure robust and reliable operation in a variety of electrical systems.
Application Field
The AN80T05LF is used for in vehicle power supply applications and power distribution for server, storage, industrial and telecommunications systems. The device is also suitable for powering white goods, consumer electronic products and lighting products. AN80T05LF is suitable for automotive applications as it meets the stringent AEC-Q100 standard and AEC-Q200 grade.
Working Principle
The main purpose of the AN80T05LF is to regulate the output voltage and ensure that the output voltage is always within the required range. It employs a push-pull integrated switch, which has two pairs of IGBTs. When current passes through one of the two IGBTs, the other IGBT will remain off. The control circuit of the AN80T05LF provides three critical protection functions which are over voltage protection (OVP), under voltage protection (UVP) and current limit protection. These protection functions will monitor the output voltage of the device, and in case if the output voltage is out of the required range, the control circuit will shut down the IGBTs to protect the system from damage.
In addition, the control circuit also has an integrated phase shift control circuit which ensures the phase of the IGBT pairs are controlled and aligned. This helps reduce the peak current and the switching loss in order to improve the overall efficiency of the device. Moreover, the AN80T05LF also has an integrated thermal shutdown circuit which will shut down the IGBTs in case of an increase in the temperature of the device.
