AN8007 is a wide input voltage, high output current, high efficiency, low noise, three-terminal series-output voltage regulator, suitable for industrial and computer systems power supplies, mobile devices, stepper motors and other application fields. It is designed for the series pass regulator whose output noise is small and efficiency is high, and it can adjust the output voltage small during low load current operation, which is suitable for switching power supplies and other applications.The working principle of AN8007 is quite simple. It basically consists of a power transistor and an error amplifier. The power transistor is placed in a series pass configuration, with the collector connected to the output voltage and the emitter connected to ground. The error amplifier is used to compare the difference between the input and output voltages, and control the conduction of the power transistor accordingly. When the output voltage is too low, the error amplifier will increase the current flowing through the power transistor, which in turn allows more current to flow through it, increasing the output voltage.
