The AN80T32 is a monolithic DC/DC switching regulator designed for applications ranging from telecommunications and consumer electronic devices to automotive applications. This device is a wide input, low output, high-efficiency, synchronous step-down DC/DC converter that is optimized for powering high-performance microprocessors. It features a wide input voltage range from 4.5 V to 25 V, a true output current capability up to 2.3 A, an adjustable switching frequency up to 1.5 MHz and a pulse-width modulation (PWM) control mode with a minimum on-time of only 95 ns. Additionally, the AN80T32 includes an enable pin that can be used to put the regulator into low-power mode when it is not in use.

The working principle of the AN80T32 is based on the hysteretic control technique. This type of control regulates output voltage by monitoring the output voltage level. A hysteretic control loop switches the device output between two finite voltage levels by comparing the output voltage with a reference voltage that is set by an external resistor divider.
