Working Principle of AP2210K-2.5TRE1

The AP2210K-2.5TRE1 is a low-dropout (LDO) voltage regulator, which is composed of an integrated CMOS, resistor, a pair of series MOSFETs and built-in current limiting element. Its schematic diagram is shown as below.

In this circuit, the M3 transistor working as the current source, it will draw the current from the IN along the OUT. R output the voltage difference between IN and OUT. Q1 is a high effective MOSFET, it can work in deep saturation region. This can guarantee the constancy of voltage with varying load currents, thus from thisregion, the dissipates power of this circuit is kept to the minimum and the efficiency is kept high.
