The AS1359-BTTT-30 is a linear voltage regulator producing adjustable regulated output from an unregulated input supply. It offers high precision, low noise, and low dropout operation in a compact package.
The AS1359 regulator is a collector-emitter linear voltage regulator that uses a low impedance control network to sense the output voltage. It then adjusts the reference voltage in order to achieve the desired output voltage. In operation, the output voltage is regulated by controlling the base current of the built-in PNP transistor. The reference voltage is established by the internal current source and can be adjusted by an external resistor. When an external voltage is applied to the mode control pin (Mode Pin), the output voltage can be set in one of the four modes: linear, adjustable, low current, or current source mode.
In linear mode, when the output voltage rises above the adjustable reference voltage, the output transistor turns off, effectively limiting the output current in the event of a short-circuit or overload. If a higher voltage is desired, the resistor can be adjusted to increase the reference voltage, setting the output voltage to the desired level.
In adjustable mode, the external control voltage is used to control the output voltage. The output transistor is always on, 8mA base current is maintained, and the output current is limited by the 1000 ohm resistor. In low current mode, the output transistor is turned off, limiting the output current to 4mA.
In current source mode, the output voltage is regulated by controlling the current source, and is limited by the 10 ohm resistor. The output current is limited to the current source value.
The AS1359-BTTT-30 regulator is suitable for a wide variety of applications including automotive electronics, portable devices, power supplies, communication systems, and industrial systems. The device offers excellent noise rejection, high voltage and current limit protection, precise regulation, and fast transient response.
