Linear-ComparatorsThe AS393MMTR-G1 is an integrated linear-comparator, designed as a temporal, closed loop, and integrated circuit consisting of a comparator, output, control and flip-flop. This allows some level of compare with analog signals to determine the level at which a given output should be switched from one state to another. This device can be useful for regulating the speed of any motor, or the brightness of any light, depending on the application.The working principle of a linear-comparator is based on two internally-generated voltages, compared to the input voltage. The first voltage is called the reference voltage and is the inactive drive voltage to the motor or LED. The second voltage is the voltage-sense voltage and is the active voltage associated with the system. A voltage difference between these two voltages will cause a change in the system output, such as speeding up or slowing down a motor, or increasing or decreasing a light\'s brightness.To generate these reference and voltage-sense voltages, the AS393MMTR-G1 utilizes two integrated linear-comparators; the first compares an input voltage against a reference voltage inside the device, and the second compared a voltage taken from the motor or LED, to the reference voltage. Depending on the size of the voltage difference, the comparators will provide a signal to change the active voltage to either accelerate or decelerate the system.This device also features an integrated flip-flop to help control the system output. As an input voltage reaches or exceeds the reference voltage, the flip-flop turns on, and the reference and active voltage both increase. Conversely, when the voltage input falls below the reference voltage, the flip-flop turns off, and the reference and active voltage both decrease.The AS393MMTR-G1 has a number of potential applications due to its ability to compare an analog input voltage with a reference voltage.
