AT24C08AN-10SC-2.7 is an integrated circuit (IC), which is specifically designed for applications in the memory field. It is suitable for applications such as memory saving of small digital machine, data exchange of communication device, temperature measurements in thermometer and so on. It is composed of an array of non-volatile EEPROM cell, a serial interface and oscillator.

The AT24C08AN-10SC-2.7 provides a 2K (2048 bytes) memory storage capacity with an 8-bit data storage with low voltage. And each of these 8-bit cells can be addressed by a unique 8-bit address, making a total of 256 addresses that are readable and/or writable. The current draw is tiny enough to permit operation on battery power.The connection to the microcontroller is made through the serial bus and it features two signal pins, usually labeled SDA and SCL.

The AT24C08AN-10SC-2.7 has the capability of applying certain commands to the EEPROM. The commands are sent from the microcontroller since there is a set of control signals embedded in the device itself. Then, the EEPROM outputs the data in 8-bit directions on the 8-bit data line. The microcontroller can check the data output and confirm the operation if the read error flag is clear.

The Write instruction is used to save data in the EEPROM. When the Write instruction is sent, the EEPROM sends the address bits on the bus and gives the microcontroller the necessary ACK (acknowledge) bit. The write operation is completed in two steps. The microcontroller first sends the address and data bytes in the same cycle. Then, the microcontroller can check the write enable flag for confirmation of successful operation.

The Erase instruction is used to erase the data from the EEPROM. When the Erase instruction is sent, the EEPROM erases the data from the address that was given by the microcontroller. The erase operation is relatively slow, and it takes some time before the erase operation is completed.

AT24C08AN-10SC-2.7 use CMOS flash technology, which is extremely reliable and energy efficient.
