Application Field:
The AT25320 is a 2.7V Serial External Memory (SPI Bus) chip. It has a very wide application field mainly used in program memory, data storage, and code storage.
- The AT25320 is capable of storing up to 256Kbit of data in a single chip, or 32KB of data in one 8-pin package.
- It is based on a read-only nonvolatile memory (NVM) technology, meaning that the data stored in the chip is not lost when the power is turned off.
- It can be used in a wide variety of applications including automotive, industrial and consumer electronics, medical, and educational applications.
- The AT25320 can be used to store boot code, firmwares, and in-field updates for microprocessors and controllers.
Working Principle:
The AT25320 is a serial memory chip which operates at a maximum speed of 20MHz and is based on a single SPI bus protocol. The chip has a SPI bus interface, a serial clock output, and an active-low Chip Select signal. The chip is also equipped with a 2-wire read-wait-write protocol which can be used to improve performance.
When the Chip Select signal is asserted, the read control signal is activated and data is transferred from the chip to the system. When the Chip Select signal is deasserted, the write control signal is activated and data is transferred from the system to the chip.
The chip also features an Endurance of 1M bits, meaning that each bit of data can be written and re-written up to a million times. The AT25320 also features a retention of 160 hours, meaning that data stored in the chip will remain valid even when the power is turned off for up to 160 hours.
