The AT73C221J is a highly integrated PMIC designed to reduce the complexity of power management in embedded applications. The AT73C221J is designed to provide high efficiency and low current consumption. It is composed of a P-channel MOSFET, N-channel MOSFET, ESD Diodes, OVM Power Supply Protection, Reverse-Order Protection, Soft Start, Voltage Monitoring, Battery Monitoring and System Reset. The device can be powered by a 2 cell Li-Polymer battery, 2cell Li-Ion battery, 2cell Lead acid battery or regulated input power supply.
The AT73C221J\'s P-channel MOSFET is used for reverse battery protection, voltage monitoring and system reset. The P-channel switches to enable battery charging and provide input power regulation. It is designed to provide a wide operating voltage range with low resistance, high current carrying capacity and low leakage.
The AT73C221J\'s N-channel MOSFET is used to switch and load power up to 500 mA. The N-channel is designed to offer high performance, low on-state resistance, low leakage current and superior reliability.
The AT73C221J\'s ESD Diode has a reverse polarity protection feature which will protect the device from overvoltage and inrush current. It also provides a stable reset output which is used to reset the circuit under overvoltage or inrush current situations.
The AT73C221J\'s OVM power supply protection feature prevents damage to the output due to sudden changes in the input voltage, such as the insertion and removal of batteries. The device\'s on-chip reverse-order protection prevents battery damage during insertion and removal of the battery by automatically detecting the correct polarity.
The AT73C221J\'s soft start feature prevents excessive inrush currents and can be adjusted to tune the device to provide optimal performance. The device\'s voltage monitoring feature allows it to monitor the input voltage and will trigger a reset signal if the voltage is too high or too low.
The AT73C221J\'s battery monitoring feature monitors the input battery voltage and provides an interrupt signal if the voltage is too low. The device\'s system reset feature will reset the circuit after an undervoltage and overvoltage condition.
