The AT73C239 is a high-performance integrated DC/DC converter power management IC (PMIC) specifically designed to offer a simple and cost effective solution for mobile and portable applications. The working principle of AT73C239 is based on the same principles of all DC-DC converters. The converter includes two stages – the power stage and the control stage. The power stage comprises of a high-efficiency, high-switching frequency switched mode power supply (SMPS) that converts the input voltage to a regulated output voltage. This is then fed to the control stage, which takes the converted output voltage and regulates it according to the input control reference.
The AT73C239 is also equipped with an exercise timer and Low-E FET driver to protect the circuit from high inrush current which may damage other components and overloading of the power supplies. This timer is triggered when the voltage regulator is not enabled and makes sure that the system is not damaged by the high inrush current.
