The ATUC256L3U-AUR is a microcontroller with an embedded 16-bit RISC processor core that supports the ARM Thumb®-2 instruction set. It is a low cost, low power MCU targeted at application fields that require small-sized, high-performance processors. This MCU features a wide range of external I/O for connecting to a variety of external peripherals such as LCD panels, Ethernet interfaces, and USB ports. Additionally, the on-chip memory (Flash and SRAM) allows for storage of big code and data, making the ATUC256L3U-AUR highly suitable for applications in a variety of industries. Moreover, its features make the ATUC256L3U-AUR ideal for low power applications in automotive, industrial, and entertainment applications.
The ATUC256L3U-AUR has 16kB on-chip flash memory that can store up to 64kB of program code and/or data, and 8kB of SRAM for stack and data storage. The on-chip flash memory is divided into two banks, which can accommodate two different programs under different conditions. The MCU also has 40 digital I/Os, four 8-bit timers, one 16-bit timer, and two capture timers, which can be used for different tasks such as generating interrupts to control GPIOs. Additionally, the ATUC256L3U-AUR also has a built-in UART and an I2C, SPI and CAN controllers as well as an Ethernet interface. This allows the ATUC256L3U-AUR to easily connect to different flexible, serial, or Ethernet-based hardware.
In terms of power consumption, the ATUC256L3U-AUR provides a low-power operation mode that reduces the power consumption to less than 0.5mW for the chip itself. This is ideal for applications where power consumption is a concern. The ATUC256L3U-AUR can also run on a wide range of supply voltages from 2.0V to 5.5V and can be powered directly from a battery. Furthermore, the ATUC256L3U-AUR has an on-board 12-bit analog-to-digital converter which is able to convert signals in the range of 0 – 5V. This means that the ATUC256L3U-AUR can be used in applications such as in automotive or industrial systems where precision ADCs are needed.
In terms of software, the ATUC256L3U-AUR can be programmed using the Thumb®-2 instruction set with ARM® Cortex™-M3 support. This means that software written for any ARM Cortex-M3 microcontroller can easily be ported to the ATUC256L3U-AUR. Additionally, the ATUC256L3U-AUR also supports a range of software development kits for finding, updating, and debugging. This includes the Keil® ARM Development Studio and the IAR Embedded Workbench.
In addition to its low-power operation, on-chip memory, and wide range of external hardware interfacing capabilities, the ATUC256L3U-AUR features a high level of safety with the ability to detect and respond to potentially hazardous situations. This includes the support for 16-bit Secure Digital (SD) cards which can be used to store program code and data as well as the ability to detect and diagnose faults in memory. Furthermore, the ATUC256L3U-AUR has an independent watchdog system that can detect and reset the system when a fault is detected. Additionally, it has power management control which can reduce the power consumption further by turning off unused parts of the chip and allowing the chip to go into a low power standby mode.
The ATUC256L3U-AUR is an ideal choice for embedded applications that require a low power, high performance microcontroller. It features an integrated RISC processor core with support for the ARM Thumb-2 instruction set as well as a wide range of on-chip and external peripherals.
