And the device is capable of both traditional parallel and serial communication up to 5 Gbps operation.

The AX500-FG484 FPGA has an embedded microprocessor for control applications. The processor provides two independent 32-bit cores, each with 32 kBytes of instruction RAM and 16 kBytes of data RAM. The processor is configured and programmed through the so-called High Level Language Programming facility. It supports standard C/C++ codes and also offers an ANSI C-compliant library. This gives developers the flexibility to quickly create applications and their associated libraries.

The AX500-FG484 is also highly efficient, consuming only 6 mW of active power at 100 MHz operation. The low power consumption of this FPGA reduces the total application power, which helps extend battery life in mobile applications. On-board peripherals on the AX500-FG484 include dual- and quad-channel USB ODMs, 10/100 ethernet and full-speed PCIe interconnects. A dual-channel MoCA (Multimedia over Coax Alliance) interface is available for video networking applications. Additionally, the AX500-FG484 FPGA supports the Lattice IP Core Library, an extensive library of configurable IP cores for implementing protocol-specific applications.

The AX500-FG484 supports multiple data interfaces, including I2C and SPI, which enable communication with custom firmware and with off-the-shelf I/O devices. In addition, the AX500-FG484 FPGA offers on-chip power management features and comprehensive security features for protecting user data and applications.
