Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors

Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are widely used in consumer electronics, industrial power electronics, military, and some automotive applications. Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are the most common type of capacitor in use and are made up of two aluminum plates separated by an oxygensurrounded electrolyte. The process of electrolytic capacitor formation results in an extremely thin dielectric layer, called a “barrier layer”, between the two plates. The purpose of the aluminum electrolytic capacitor is to store electrical energy and to provide a heightened level of system stability and protection.

Working principle
