The BAS70-06FILM is a rectifier which moves direct current (DC) in a single direction, by eliminating the negative components of an alternating current (AC) signal, thus converting it to DC power. It is mainly composed of a Schottky diode, which acts as a bridge between a power source, such as a battery or solar panel, and a load, such as a resistor or a motor. This diode contains a Schottky barrier between its anode and cathode, which is a thin layer of metal. The Schottky barrier is the source of the diode’s fast switching speed and high efficiency.

The diode’s working principle is very simple. When a positive voltage is applied at the anode side and a negative voltage is applied at the cathode side, the electrons in the anode are attracted toward the cathode and the current carries on flowing through the load and back through the cathode. When a negative voltage is applied to the anode and a positive voltage to the cathode, the current flow is blocked and the diode is regarded as “reverse biased”.
