Working Principle

BAT54AWTR diodes function on the principle of minority carrier injection, where a minority carrier, such as an electron or a hole, is injected from the high-field side of the diode into the bulk material, and the majority carrier, such as a hole or an electron, is injected from the low-field side of the diode into the bulk material. The reverse voltage applied across the diode\'s terminals induces current, thereby forming a rectifying junction. As the minority carrier is sufficiently injected into the bulk material, the diode turns on and current can pass through it in its forward direction. This forms the basis of the device’s switching principle.
