What is the BAT54WS-7-F?
The BAT54WS-7-F is a single-diode rectifier manufactured by NXP Semiconductors. It is a surface-mount SOD-123 package with a maximum peak repetitive reverse voltage of 100V and a maximum average forward rectified current of 200mA. It is suitable for both DC and AC applications and can be used in any application that needs a diode for rectification.
Application Field

Working Principle
The BAT54WS-7-F is a single-phase diode rectifier, making use of two diodes connected in series that are reverse-biased for a portion of the AC cycle. When an AC voltage is applied across the two diodes, one diode is in forward-bias for the positive half-cycle, and the other diode is in forward-bias for the negative half-cycle. As a result, the output voltage is only a rectified, DIRECT CURRENT output. This DC output can then be used to drive a DC load.
When no voltage is applied, the diodes are reverse-biased and no current flows through them. However, when a voltage is applied, the p-n junction of the diode is opened and a current flows through it in the forward direction. The voltage and current rating of the diode determines the amount of current that can flow through it and its ability to handle higher peak voltages/currents. The maximum peak repetitive reverse voltage and maximum average forward rectified current of the BAT54WS-7-F are 100V and 200mA respectively.
The BAT54WS-7-F can be used in a variety of rectification circuits such as full-wave rectification, half-wave rectification and bridge rectification. In a full-wave rectification circuit, both diodes are in the forward-bias state during the entire cycle, and the output is a DC signal with little ripple. In a half-wave rectification circuit, one diode is in the forward-bias state for one half of the cycle and the other diode is in the reverse-bias state during the other. In this case, the output is a DC signal with significant ripple. Finally, in a bridge rectification circuit, two identical configurations of two diodes are connected in series, making use of four diodes, and the output is a DC signal with little ripple.
The BAT54WS-7-F is an efficient and versatile diode rectifier frequently used in applications where a small package with a low forward voltage drop and a high peak reverse voltage is desired.
