BAV103-IR08 Application Field and Working Principle
The BAV103-IR08 diode is a single-piece, silicon, rectifying diode with an integrated guard ring for electrostatic protection. It is used to convert alternating current (AC) into direct current (DC). To do this, the anode terminal of the diode is connected to the positive side of an AC power supply, while the cathode terminal is connected to the negative side. The electric field across the junction of the diode eventually causes holes to populate one side of the junction, allowing current flow in one direction only. The BAV103-IR08 Diode has a 450mW power dissipation rate and is capable of handling a high voltage rating up to 200 Volts. It operates at 50Hz to 400KHz frequency range, and is equipped with an ESD protection up to 8 KVair and 4 KVcontact via the integrated guard ring.
