Working Principle

The BD8616MUV-E2 utilizes synchronous rectification circuitry to achieve high efficiency, low input/output voltage ripple, and low noise. This switching regulator features an integrated high-side and low-side power MOSFETs to reduce the component count and board space associated with providing regulated voltage from an unregulated input. It has an advanced current-mode control architecture which enables a wide range of output voltages, programmable switching frequencies, and regulates current under very light loads. It also has an integrated start-up circuit to ensure no-load operation from a low input voltage.

The BD8616MUV-E2 offers programmable switching frequencies from 1kHz to 4MHz, making it suitable for noise-sensitive applications like telecom and high-density FPGAs. It also has a power-saving sleep mode, and the ability to keep or release the load in this mode, for further power savings when the device is not needed. It also features an adjustable soft-start tuning to effectively reduce inrush current during startup.

Furthermore, the BD8616MUV-E2 provides an automatic power saving function to reduce power consumption as much as possible when a light load is present. Lastly, the internal protection functions include output overcurrent protection,-duty cycle protection and thermal shutdown.
