Working Principle

BD8624EFV-E2 is a buck-converter based DC DC switching regulator. It uses pulse width modulation (PWM) regulated signals to switch the load, between the input and output. The switching frequency is set through the internal reference oscillator and is adjustable between 1MHz and 500kHz.

The internal PWM comparator, along with the error amplifier, senses the output voltage level and adjusts the duty cycle of the PWM output. The duty cycle control in this way rises linearly from 0% (when the output voltage is zero) to 100% as the voltage increases. This corresponds to the increase in the input current as the output voltage gets higher.

The internal error amplifier senses the input and output voltages, and will shut down the converter if a short-circuit or over-voltage condition is encountered. An internal power MOSFET with a peak current of 2A ensures that the load is supplied with enough current.
