Application Field

BD8627EFV-E2 is mainly used in consumer electronics such as mobile phones, tablet PCs, and notebook computers. It has two operating modes: two step and continuous. In two-step operation mode, the output voltage is switched between two predetermined values, which reduces power consumption, and it is compatible with 5V/3.3V/1.8V output. In continuous operation mode, the output voltage keeps the same, so the power is more stable, and it is suitable for 3.3V/1.8V output. In addition, BD8627EFV-E2 provides key protection functions such as overcurrent protection (OCP) and over temperature protection (OTP).

Working Principle

BD8627EFV-E2 is a monolithic DC-DC switching regulator for PMIC-Voltage Regulator. The typical circuit of BD8627EFV-E2 DC-DC buck regulator is shown below:BD8627EFV-E2 Circuit The internal PWM circuit consists of an oscillator, a comparator and a high-side/low-side driver. By comparing an internal voltage reference to the voltage of the output feedback terminal. The output voltage is regulated when there is voltage error between the output and the feedback terminal. In BD8627EFV-E2, the oscillator generates a rectangular wave signal and a manual reset signal required for PWM circuit. The ripple channel filter having a low output impedance and a high ripple rejection is located between the output terminal and the feedback terminal. The output of the PWM circuit is connected to the external power switch, which is composed of the transistor and Schottky diode. The Schottky diode is connected in parallel with the power switch is for added feature of an input current limiter for protecting the input transistor against excessive current. The increased current and voltage is provided to the load. With the help of the control circuit, the output voltage of the regulator is stabilized. The load is directly connected from the output terminal; when the increases load or output decreases, the controller senses the lowered output voltage by means of the feedback circuit and regulates the output voltage of the regulator by increasing the duty cycle. Besides, the other features of BD8627EFV-E2 includes a built-in over current protection (OCP) function and over temperature protection (OTP) function. The OCP circuit detects the output current exceeding the preset level and turns off the output immediately. Also, if an over-temperature occurs due to abnormal operations, the device will cut off the output by the OTP circuit and return to the normal mode after the device cools.
