BOOSTXL-DRV8320H is a motor driver expansion board designed to support motor control designs powered by an external motor driver, such as the DRV8320H driver. The DRV8320H is a 3-phase brushless DC motor driver which supports up to 10 amp, 500V output and is used for a variety of motor control applications. The BOOSTXL-DRV8320H board is suitable for use with Texas Instruments’ TMS320F28335 or TMS320F2806x microcontrollers in order to provide the necessary hardware interface.

BOOSTXL-DRV8320H features the DRV8320H motor driver IC, motor-control circuit protection, motor power supply selection, and a wide array of digital input/outputs. The board also provides access to the DRV8320H enhanced pulse-width modulation (PWM) environment, motor monitoring and protection features. An additional feature of the BOOSTXL-DRV8320H is the ability to use it with advanced drive settings such as sinusoidal commutation and direct torque control (DTC) which can enable more precise motor control while reducing audible noise.

Working Principle

The board also includes components for powering and controlling the DRV8320H, and for connecting to the host microcontroller. The BOOSTXL-DRV8320H board can be used with TI’s TMS320F28335 and TMS320F2806x microcontrollers, allowing you to create a wide variety of motor control designs.
