The BQ24070RHLT battery charger pulse-width modulated (PWM) switch-mode charger circuit is designed to provide a simple and robust solution for charging single-cell Li-ion batteries. A low input current is set at 1% of the IADJ setting, allowing a very low quiescent current operating mode (<10 µA). For higher charge rates, the IADJ terminal can be adjusted such that the charge rate is between 0.3A to 1.5A.The BQ24070RHLT employs safety features to avoid overcharging and overwarming the battery. During the charging operation, this device will monitor the battery voltage and temperature. An internal timer will shut off the charging circuitry when the charge current drops below an internal threshold or when the temperature exceeds an internal threshold. Two soft-start algorithms are additionally implemented to avoid large inrush current at startup.
