BU90054GWZ-E2 is a high-efficiency, wide input range, single-channel integrated synchronous step-down switching regulator. It contains a state-of-the-art 60V Buck P-Channel MOSFET, which provides maximum efficiency, best-in-class transient response, low RDS(on) and low ESR. The device also features a low quiescent current for better light load performance and a wide operating temperature range for superior reliability in demanding applications.

This product can provide an output voltage from 0.6V to 5.5V adjustable and rated output current of 1.2A with fast load transients. It also offers tight load and line regulation for low-noise applications and over temperature protection.

Working Principle

The BU90054GWZ-E2 mainly consists of a control circuit, a P-channel driver and a power MOSFET as the switching elements. It is a synchronous step-down regulator, meaning it reduces the input voltage and supplies the load in the form of a DC voltage. To achieve the output voltage, a P-Channel MOSFET, driven by a control circuit, starts switching with operating frequency that can be adjusted by an external resistor. The current in the load is proportional to the ON-time of the switch, which is determined by the difference between input and output voltage. By analytically controlling the ON-time of the MOSFET, the output voltage is regulated to the desired level for the load.

The synchronous step-down switching regulator provides efficient power conversion up to 90% typical. The E2 version of BU90054GWZ has an integrated low-side MOSFET and can be easily configured to gain higher energy efficiency.
