The BYV28-150-TR is a single rectifier diode that provides an effective solution for a variety of applications. It is a fast recovery, high voltage Schottky diode with low forward voltage drop, low reverse current and low switching losses. The BYV28-150-TR has a nominal current rating of 150 Amperes and can handle a maximum peak forward current of 225 Amperes.

The BYV28-150-TR finds applications as a switch-mode power supply rectifier, as well as in circuits used to protect against overvoltage or reverse polarity. It can also be used in voltage higher than its own peak inverse voltage in surge circuits such as those for high-energy lasers. Additionally, it can be employed for freewheeling diode applications.

The BYV28-150-TR features a near-ideal forward characteristic, enabling low on-state voltage drop and minimal component losses. It is designed for surface mounting and comes in a High Temperature Insulating Package with a maximum mounted thermal resistance of 62 K/W. It is also RoHS-, REACH- and Halogen-free with low system losses, making it an environmentally friendly choice.

The BYV28-150-TR mechanism includes a wide range of components and operations. A positive terminal makes contact with a semiconductor and a negative terminal provides conduction. As conventional current passes through the semiconductor, an electric field is generated that causes holes to travel fast and cause a current flow across the PN junction. Once the current reaches a certain point, the diode is said to be conducting. When the current is reversed, the holes are forced to the other side of the diode, blocking current flow and resulting in the diode turning off.
