A Zener diode is a semiconductor device with a particular breakdown voltage associated with it. When the Zener diode is forward biased, a relatively large reverse current will flow once the applied zener voltage becomes equal to the zener breakdown voltage. In other words, it conducts only in the reverse direction once the breakdown voltage is exceeded. The BZG04-27-M3-18 is a type of single Zener diode with the voltage of 18 V.
