The BZW04P14B-E3/73 is a dual bidirectional TVS diode specifically designed to provide effective immunity against lightning currents in the presence of high peak and repetitive surge voltages. It also features low leakage current, excellent thermal stability, crash and break performance, and consistent response time.

The BZW04P14B-E3/73 application field is defined by its clamping voltage, peak pulse power capability, and response time. It has a very low surge voltage of 17.8V (5A) and an operating voltage of 28V (8/20µs) (150A), allowing it to be used in a wide range of applications from automotive to consumer electronics. It also has an excellent response time of <1ns, making it well suited for protecting components from over-voltage and over-current spikes. The BZW04P14B-E3/73 is designed for high peak pulse power (QT) applications such as automotive sensors, microprocessors, and power controllers.

The BZW04P14B-E3/73 principle of operation is based on the avalanche breakdown effect, where the breakdown voltage of the junction is lower than the peak voltage of the load circuit. It is designed to prevent voltage surges on the system\'s output caused by EMI, lightning strikes, and other sources of electromagnetic radiation. The diode absorbs the excessive energy and discharges it safely to ground, thereby protecting the system. When the surge exceeds the maximum threshold voltage of the diode, the internal Zener diode structure switches on and isolates the load from the source until the voltage is reduced to a safe level. The device\'s protection area has a wide clamping voltage of 17.8V (5A), with a maximum peak power of 1500W (8/20µs).
