Working Principle

To operate this memory, three signals that include read, write and erase are provided. The write signal is applied externally at the gate of the logic transistor. When a write signal is applied, the logic transistor drives data into the memory cells. The read signal is also applied externally to the gate of the logic transistor. When the read signal is applied, the logic transistor reads data from the cell, which is stored in a voltage level.

The erase signal is applied to the gate of a data cell. When an erase signal is applied, the data cell is reset to the original state. In order to perform a write or read operation, the logic transistor must be in the ‘ON’ state. When all the signals are not active, the logic transistor is in the ‘OFF’ state, meaning the memory is in a low-power idle mode.
