CD74AC158M is a 16-bit high-speed CMOS multiplexer/demultiplexer. It is meant for the use in high-speed memory applications and fast address multiplexing. Its inputs include A0 - A7, S0 - S1 and E, where S0 and S1 control the multiplexing of A0 - A7 and E gates the four least significant selector outputs. It operates from a single power supply ranging from 3V to15V.
CD74AC158M is composed of four 4-bit multiplexer/demultiplexer components. The first multiplexer/demultiplexer has two data inputs and two select inputs. The other three multiplexers/demultiplexers have a shared pair of select inputs. All the four multiplexers/demultiplexers have their individual enable inputs. Working Principle
CD74AC158M multiplexers are controlled by the control inputs, S0 - S1 and E. The S0 and S1 inputs determine the selection of the demultiplexers. When S0 and S1 inputs are “Low”, the multiplexer is “OFF”. For the multiplexers to be “ON”, S0 and S1 inputs should be “High”. When enabled, the multiplexers behave like a single 4-bit multiplexer with inputs E, A0 - A1, B0 - B3, and outputs Y0 - Y3.
The E inputs control the data transmission in the multiplexers. When E is “Low”, the data is transmitted from A0 - A3 to Y0 - Y3. When E is “High”, the data is transmitted from B0 - B3 to Y0 - Y3.
