The CD74AC563E is an 8-bit decoder/demultiplexer, providing eight functions of data select and data distribution. It is designed to accept three binary inputs, select 1 of 8 outputs and provide true outputs which are logic level independent. The outputs from the 3-bit address inputs will select one of the 8 independent data outputs. The decoding to each output is active low.The decoding process for the CD74AC563E consists of decoding the input register, decoding the output register, and providing an output based on the address information contained within the input register. The first step in the decoding process is the evaluation of the 8-bit address register. This register is made up of three bits, A0, A1 and A2. The value within the address register determines which output will be active. A logic HIGH is applied to the output corresponding to the binary address contained within the register. The output register also contains three bits which are used to control the output of the device. The output register contains two bits, OE (output enable) and DIR (direction) which control the state of the output. When OE is held LOW the outputs are enabled, when DIR is held HIGH the output is written to the value contained in the address register.The CD74AC563E application field and working principle is quite simple.
