The CD74ACT253M is a member of the Texas Instruments Advanced CMOS Logic family. It is a 3-state dual 4-channel multiplexer/demultiplexer. In addition to providing data transfer among eight logic devices, it has the ability to demultiplex four binary signals into eight signals. The device is also adept at multiplexing four binary signals using just two logic channels, allowing it to be used in distributed logic systems.The CD74ACT253M is a CMOS based device that incorporates two control inputs. These inputs, /S0 and /S1, control the direction of data transfer. The transfer of data is based on the Enable input (/G). When enabled, the data flow is switched between the two multiplexer channels or between the two demultiplexer channels.In a multiplexer application, the CD74ACT253M can be used to select one of two logic inputs from two sources. The four switching channels allow up to eight inputs of logic data to be selected, and the three-state logic output allows the logic to interface with other logic devices.In a demultiplexer application, the CD74ACT253M can be used to control the direction of data transfer between two logic devices, allowing it to be used as a buffer or a port expander. When enabled, the two control inputs select one of two channels for data transfer. In addition, the three-state logic output allows the device to interface with other logic devices.The CD74ACT253M can be used in applications such as data communications, data acquisition systems, instrumentation, computer memory management, noise suppression, and general logic networks. Its logic threshold levels make it ideal for applications powered by 5-V to 15-V supplies, such as TTL and CMOS.The CD74ACT253M is a robust multiplexer/demultiplexer that provides low power consumption, high speed, low propagation delay, and low noise due to its advanced CMOS logic. Its wide supply voltage range, up to 15V, helps it survive in harsh environments. And by featuring five Schmitt-triggered inputs and a three-state logic output, the device can operate at speeds of up to 2.5ns propagation delay.The CD74ACT253M is a versatile logic device that can be used to switch, multiplex, and demultiplex data signals. With its two-control inputs and three-state level outputs, it is capable of transferring data, giving it a wide range of applications in the fields of digital logic and signal switching, noise suppression, and data acquisition systems.
