When E1 is Low, A bus data is enabled to Y bus. When E1 is high and data on A bus is enabled to Y bus, it is being multiplexed with E2 signal. Under normal operations, the E2 signal is low and this enables the transfer of data from A bus to Y bus. When E2 is high, the data is being multiplexed on Y bus.
Additionally, when E2 is High and E1 is Low, a latched 3-state is formed and data from A bus is enabled to Y bus. The latched 3-state is then disabled and data transfer to Y bus is stopped when E2 is taken low and does not repeat until E2 is taken high. When E2 is Low, then the input to Y bus is passively disabled, no matter what the levels of the E1 and A inputs.
CD74HC257M also offers enhanced noise margins and power supply noise immunity compared to comparable logic devices. This makes the device suitable for use in digital systems like microprocessors, featured supercomputers, programmable logic arrays and other logic systems operating at high speed. In addition, its reduced propagation delays feature makes the device more suitable for use in automated test applications.
