CDCLVD1216RGZT is a low-voltage, low-skew and low-power clock buffer designed by Texas Instruments. It is part of a family of high-performance, clock generatiion, distribution and signal conditioning products. This device provides differential drive and an integrated DC blocking capacitors for signal integrity. The clock buffer is imbedded within the Digitally Controlled Clock Generator, DCG technology for clock generation and signal conditioning. This device apart from its use as a clock distribution device can also be used in medical equipments, networking, computing and imaging applications.

The operating temperature range of the CDCLVD1216RGZT is from -40°C to 85°C, voltage supply is from 0.9V and 3.3V, and the diode current is from 8A to 16A. This buffer provides tremendous jitter performance, with a peak-to-peak jitter of 0.804 ps and lower, ensuring stable clock signal timing across all outputs. The cable impedance is also controlled to prevent signal reflection and distortion of the clock signal.

The working principle of CDCLVD1216RGZT is simple. The device takes an input clock signal, then uses control signals to select which of the four outputs or a combination of them the clock is applied to. The device then amplifies and drives each output of the clock varied depending on the size of the load. This is done using logic control signals and a selectable output drive current of 8mA/16mA.
