CHL8112A-02CRT is a DC/DC Switching Controller from PMIC – Voltage Regulators DC DC Switching Controllers family. It\'s specifically designed for low cost non inten-sive current applications like LED driver and battery charger. CHL8112A-02CRT charge controller operating from input voltage from 2.5V to 16V and capable of regulating the output voltage across a wide range of output voltage from 0.8V to 36V at adjustable current limit of up to 10A.CHL8112A-02CRT includes an adjustable oscillator with +/-2% accuracy to ensure stable output. Soft-start and start-up/-down ramp time requires no external components, while external loop compensation offers high stability and system performance. The flexibility of CHL8112A-02CRT offers system design an external maximum duty cycle adjustment, allowing it to work with wide range of applications.CHL8112A-02CRT features both input and output over-current, output overload and over-temperature protections and a variety of other functions designed to improve system reliability. It also features an Disable dead time compensation to maximize efficiency while reducing EMI and offers an optional PWM output.CHL8112A-02CRT working principle is mainly: The input power is switch through power MOSFETs, which is internally connected and externally isolated from the control circuit; the circuit will work in pulse width modulation (PWM) control and cycles the power MOSFETs ON and OFF at a frequency determined by oscillator. The maximum pulse width of the cycle, which is determined by the maximum duty cycle set point, will keep the output voltage at a constant level despite changes in the input voltage or output current. A peak current control loop will keep constant the current in the power MOSFET peak. The peak current limit is pre-programmed in CHL8112A-02CRT internal registers and can be modified to suit specific application.CHL8112A-02CRT also has programmable oscillator.The switch frequency can be programmed for best efficiency, EMI, and audible noise suppression. The Start-up, Soft-start and Shut-down ramp of the switching cycle are internally programmed for best performance. The soft-start and shut-down ramp will ensure smooth inversion transitions and reduce inrush current spikes. CHL8112A-02CRT also has Thermal shutdown and over-temperature protection and Progressive start-up protection.
