Working Principle
The CHL8326-07CRT is a current-mode switching (PWM) controller that provides high-speed current-mode control with peak current mode. The controller operates in a cycle-by-cycle control scheme. The controller turns on the main switch when the output current reaches its peak value, at which time the current comparator is reset, and output current falls by a voltage (Vov). The controller then turns off the main switch when the output current reaches its minimum value, at which time the current comparator is reset, and output current rises by a voltage (Vov). This cycle repeats at a fixed frequency and integrated adaptive on-time regulation allows for automatic frequency compensation in order to maintain accuracy.
The device includes integrated Synchronous Rectification (SR) generation that allows for reduced switching losses compared to traditional PWM controllers. It also includes loss-less Triac control which allows for smooth startup and shutdown with reduced inrush current. In addition, the controller features frequency oscillation that reduces electromagnetic interference (EMI) noise while increasing efficiency.
The device also includes a wide range of protection and diagnostic features such as short-circuit protection, over-current protection, over-voltage protection, under-voltage lockout, thermal protection, inrush current control, and cycle-by-cycle current limiting.
