CY3210-MINIPROG1 is a complete, low-cost evaluation kit for the PSoC® 3 family of microcontrollers. PSoC 3 is a flash-based microcontroller that provides the flexibility and performance for embedded control applications. It combines an 8051-compatible processor core with an SRAM memory, small set of logic components and analog blocks, on a single chip. This device can be used to quickly develop and evaluate projects, from small motor control applications to LED lighting projects.The kit includes the CY3210-PSoC3, a USB-based, self-contained programmable platform designed to evaluate and quickly develop applications using the PSoC 3 device. The CY3210-PSoC3 board includes a 32.778kHz crystal oscillator, pull-up and pull-down USB lines, as well as configurable logic and analog blocks. The 100 pin, 48-MHz device is housed in a 40-pin plastic dual in-line package (PDIP) that can be socketed. Its partially-populated PCB includes a 4-pin male audio jack and on-board analog voltage selector for evaluation of the PSoC 3 features.The CY3210-PSoC3 can be programmed from either the MiniProg1 (CY3210) or the CPCI2 (CY8CPCI-2) development software and debugger. The associated development software provides a suite of high-level APIs for controlling and integration of all the features of the device. The integration library provides examples for controlling the ADC, I2C, PWM, LED output, and high/low range frequency clock sources. The software is also capable of driving PSoC 3 peripheral functions such as timers, counters, PWM, UART, and SPI.The design software includes libraries for controlling the digital and analog functions of the PSoC 3. These libraries include the comprehensive Analog Devices® library, allowing access to many of the industry-leading functional blocks such as signal processing, motor control, and audio. The design software also provides for code debugging and in circuit emulation using the included emulator pod.The CY3210-PSoC3 is primarily used for control applications in a variety of markets such as automotive, medical, consumer, industrial and communications, as it is capable of short development cycles, provides on-board programmability, and can support multiple applications on a single board. The board is also designed to be used in prototyping, pre-production, or even in production for low-volume applications. It is also ideally suited for motor control, sensing, monitoring, and communications applications.In conclusion, the CY3210-PSoC3 is an ideal, low-cost evaluation kit for the PSoC 3 family of microcontrollers.
