Evaluation Boards - Embedded - MCU, DSP

The CY3655-DK evaluation board is designed for use with programmed digital system and controller solutions. It provides an effective platform to evaluate Cypress semiconductors’ microcontroller (MCU) and digital signal processor (DSP) devices. This board is designed to fully utilize the features of two different microcontroller devices: PSoC® 3 and PSoC® 5. Both of these MCU platforms are based on 32-bit ARM® Cortex™-M3 multi-core architectures.

The CY3655-DK evaluation board offers a variety of features for users to test and evaluate a programmed solutions. Its comprehensive onboard components include: an onboard Flash memory (128KB); power supplies; an analog-to-digital converter (ADC); a digital-to-analog converter (DAC); a voltage regulator; and an 806 MHz clock oscillator. All of the primary components are supported by on-board battery charging and debugging systems. The device also features user-programmable switches and LEDs, jumpers and cables to support flexible connections.

The CY3655-DK evaluation board is suitable for prototyping purposes or for formal evaluation and testing of new and innovative solutions. Its features are fully in line with the demands of prototyping, customized application development, and the functional evaluation of digital solutions. The board is fully compatible with Cypress’ software and development environment, allowing simultaneous development and debugging of both MCU and DSP applications.

The CY3655-DK evaluation board provides the following features for enabling efficient design and development: integrated USB 2.0 port, on-board voltage regulators supporting input voltages of +2.7V to +3.3V, on-board power supplies of +3.3V and +5V, on-board debugging I/O and connectivity options, including logic analyzer and logic probe. The board offers UART, I2C, SPI and JTAG interfaces for downloading and debugging. It also contains an on-board Ethernet controller, with support for both 10/100 Mbps Ethernet and 10/100 Mbps LAN interfaces.

A variety of external connections can be made to the CY3655-DK evaluation board. External systems can be connected via chip-to-board connectors for more expansion. For example, an external digital signal processor can be connected to the MCU onboard to provide an additional level of application innovation or control. Furthermore, on-board programming support is provided via an external programming tool, Flash programming utility and Flash programming board. All the programming and configuration settings can be changed and edited using these tools.

In addition to offering an extensive features set of prototyping and evaluation capabilities, the CY3655-DK evaluation board also offers a wide range of application development and support features. It has been designed to fully support the development of embedded applications, using programming languages such as C/C++, VHDL, and Verilog. Various libraries and resources are available to simplify the development process.
