The CY7C68301C-56PVXC is an embedded single-chip dual-function USB controller designed for multiple applications such as consumer and automotive electronics, industrial automation, medical and embedded systems. It has an embedded 5-pin EI/DI (embedded interface/data interface) controller as well as a separate USB 2.0 host controller. This device offers improved power management, reliability and supporting features for embedded designs.
Application Field

Working Principle
The CY7C68301C-56PVXC implements the dual-function USB 2.0 protocol. It scans the incoming packets from the USB host, translates the packets into EI/DI commands and sends them to the embedded 5-pin EI/DI controller. The device also creates the required handshake packets during the EI/DI-to-USB transfer. The embedded 5-pin EI/DI controller processes the requests from the USB side and sends the corresponding responses back to the USB port for further processing.
The CY7C68301C-56PVXC implements an advanced power management system which includes two low power modes - Sleep and Sleep Wake-Up Power Sense, both of which are based on dynamic power management (DPM). The Sleep mode adapts itself to an idle USB port. In this mode, the microcontroller core is put in a low power state and the external pins are turned off except the pins connected to the USB host. In this mode, the power current consumption is between 40 μA and 250 μA, depending on the actual frequency.
The Sleep Wake-Up Power Sense mode further reduces the power consumption during an idle USB port. In this mode, the microcontroller core enters an ultra-low power state, and all the pins except the USB D+ and D- are turned off. This mode provides a very low power current consumption, which is between 10 μA and 60 μA, depending on whether the device is in the sleeping or awake state.
The CY7C68301C-56PVXC also implements a dynamic frequency scaling (DFS) feature which allows the user to switch between different operating frequencies (125 kHz, 250 kHz and 500 kHz) based on the load. This feature not only helps to reduce the power consumption but also allows the device to adjust its performance to the current load. The device also supports both full-speed (12 Mbps) and high-speed (480 Mbps) USB transactions.
The CY7C68301C-56PVXC also supports advanced features such as auto – connect and remote wake-up, which allow the device to connect to a USB port automatically after certain pre-defined conditions, and to wake up from deep sleep mode during a remote device activity from the USB port. This feature is especially useful in applications which require fast reaction time, such as in wireless data transmission.
