Working Principle
When data is transferred from the input port to the output port of the FIFO memory, in other words from the input clock interface to the output clock interface, the data bus is blocked by a signal line connected to the two clock interfaces. This is due to the double-stage shift register feature of the CY7C4241V-15JC.
Due to the double buffering feature, when the data flow rate of the input clock interface is faster than that of the output clock interface, the input port will write data into the FIFO Memory (block buffer) until it is full, and then transition to the output port to read the data out, using the clock of the output port. Moreover, when the data flow rate of the output clock is faster than that of the input port, the output port will read the data out faster, and the data of the input port will be stored in the double-buffered structure until the output port runs out of data and then transition back to the input port, using the clock of the input port.
Internally, CY7C4241V-15JC consists of two 13-bit FIFO hub and four 32-bit data FIFO clusters, providing a total of 64Kbits of FIFO memory. Each 13-bit FIFO hub consists of two 32-bit array of six parallels connected with two 13-bit data poles, which allows for cycle level synchronization.
