DC1562B-K is a complete design which includes hardware and software components. It provides a platform for evaluation, customization, and demonstration of power supply, battery charger and other applications in the growing field of Power Control ICs and systems.DC1562B-K provides features such as an adjustable power supply up to 12V, adjustable current limiting up to 8A, and adjustable battery charging up to 5A. It also offers several system-level functions which make it useful in development, testing, and demonstration of designs related to power control. These functions include battery charger state tracking, cell balancing, communication and logging capabilities, power up sequencing, and many more.The application field of DC1562B-K can be divided into three major areas: Evaluation, Customization, and Demonstration. In Evaluation, the DC1562B-K can be used to evaluate ICs or design ideas without having to build it up from discrete components. It can also be used to compare pre-designed systems against user-defined parameters. In Customization, users are able to customize hardware or software based on their own needs. It is also possible to make design improvement using features on the DC1562B-K, such as parameter adjustment through its integrated Setup Application. Finally, in Demonstration the DC1562B-K can be used to show the concept of power control related systems to potential customer.The working principle of DC1562B-K is based on an integrated Cortex-M4 processor and a hardware platform. The processor contains a mix of peripherals and a code build-up which supports the evaluation, customization, and demonstration. Furthermore, several integrated ICs like ON-Semiconductor NCP1526 and NCP1574 contribute to the functionality of DC1562B-K. NCP1526 provides an adjustable voltage output up to 12V, whereas NCP1574 supplies an adjustable current up to 8A. In order to evaluate the performance of a designed system, DC1562B-K has a number of additional on-board components and diagnostic tools. These tools include adjustable current sensing, battery voltage monitoring, and a diagnostic board which consists of 8 input switches and LEDs. Furthermore, DC1562B-K has a USB interface to connect to external software, which allows users to test and evaluate the design concept before committing real hardware resources. Apart from evaluating performance of a designed system, the DC1562B-K can be used to carry out various demonstration applications. To facilitate the demonstration process, the device has an integrated graphical user interface (GUI) which provides real-time control and monitoring of the system. It also has a keyboard for inputting information and an LCD for displaying messages and pictures.
