DC1611A is a highly-integrated, high-efficiency offline AC/DC voltage regulator. It integrates all the components necessary for a single-stage, offline solution while providing the flexibility and scalability needed for applications of various power levels. In addition, the built-in active transitional demagnetization circuit of the device ensures a fast switch-on and switch-off thus preventing inrush current and overshoot occurrence.

DC1611A is a highly suitable device for multiple applications due to its specialized features such as the embedded frequency jittering circuit that reduces EMI issues by allowing the device to work with different switching frequencies, this feature allows for the device to be used in loud and noisy environments while still delivering primary side regulation. Its built-in Brown-in/Brown-out and Over Voltage Protection (OVL,BVP) are further protective measures that make it suitable for critical applications that require stable power inputs.

Some of the key application areas for the DC1611A are Portable Device Chargers, LED Drivers, and Home Appliance Power Supplies. It is also applicable to lighting, audio/video, computer, communication, household appliances, car chargers and digital ICs.

In addition to its highly suitable features, the device also packs the important feature of primary side regulation (PSR). The device relies on optoelectronic feedback for the PSR capability, so it does not need an additional control element to sense the output voltage. This allows for a simpler design of the circuit, reducing both board area and bill of materials (BOM) count.

The working principle of DC1611A is based on the rules of Non-Isolated synchronization Buck topology. The internal high-voltage MOSFET is connected to the rectified mains line voltage when the power is turned on. When load current is applied, the internal loop control circuit will adjust the duty cycle of the internal MOSFET in order to keep the output voltage steady. This principle can be used to adjust the output voltage from 0.5 V to the maximum rated voltage as set by the designer.

On normal take-off, the average value of the output voltage will follow the actual output voltage as the PSR takes effect and computes the right duty cycle according to the voltage during normal load condition. In brown-in/brown-out or over-voltage situation, the auto-restart loop is enabled and the decreasing output voltage will be sensed by the device. The internal loop control will disable the power switch to maintain the output voltage within the regulation voltage range.

Overall, the DC1611A device offers a high-efficiency, low-component count, low EMI and small overall system size package. This makes it the ideal solution for a wide array of AC/DC voltage regulator applications and is highly recommended for applications that require high design efficiency, cost-effectiveness and a small footprint.
