The DC2126A is an Evaluation Board offered by Analog Devices Inc., designed to evaluate the performance of magnetic sensors. The board broadly targets two application areas. It is applied in industrial applications such as manufacturing, automation, vehicle and machine control, overload protection, process monitoring, and other mission critical applications where magnetic sensing is a factor in the control system. This board is also applied where mobile sensing capabilities or environmental awareness are essential. This includes transport vehicles, personal electronic consumer products, or medical products.
The DC2126A utilizes two different types of magnetic sensors and amplifier selection, based on the application’s needs. The two options available are: Magnetic Sensor Magnetsense Hall effect sensors and Hall effect amplifiers. This Evaluation Board is compatible with a wide range of analog, digital & mixed signals and can also be used to evaluate the performance of magnetic sensing systems. The DC2126A can be operated over a wide range of temperatures, allowing it to be suitable for industrial, automotive, and other mission applications.
The working principle of the DC2126A is the same for both the Magnetsense & Halls Effect sensors. Both types of sensors have the ability to detect the presence of magnetic fields and provide an analog or digital output signal. The Magnetsense utilizes Hall effect sensors, to measure the presence of small or large changes in a magnetic field, while the Halls effect uses a Hall effect amplifier, to convert the small changes into larger changes in the output signal.
The DC2126A board has an on-board power supply with the ability to supply up to 2.6V to any of the analog circuits or up to 5V to the digital circuit. The board is also equipped with an amplifier to allow for adjustment of the signal gain and a bi-directional switch to provide signal conditioning and enable/disable the board. The DC2126A also includes an on-board temperature controller and selectable on-board voltage levels.
The DC2126A board is capable of providing both analog and digital outputs in order to be used as a part of a specific sensing system. The DC2126A is also capable of sampling a wide range of analog and digital signals and converting them into a common format so that the user has access to a wide range of various sensing applications. The Evaluation Board provides an industry-standard connector allowing the user to connect additional external instrumentation or sensors.
The Evaluation Board also provides software supporting Windows, Linux and Mac OS platforms, as well as a web-based GUI for users to access the board. This GUI includes software modules designed to monitor and manage the DC2126A, as well as options for configuring the board. Additionally, the board is capable of communicating with analog and digital devices through I2C, SPI, Serial UART, Ethernet, CAN, and other interfaces.
The DC2126A Evaluation Board allows the user to evaluate the performance of magnetic sensors using the same components for both Magnetsense & Halls Effect magnetic sensors. It is designed to provide capability for measuring and sampling changes in an analog or digital signal, and allow the user to access a wide range of application possibilities. The board is versatile and can be used for a variety of projects such as automation or consumer product sensing. It can be configured for both analog and digital applications and comes with a wide range of software support.
